Overview

The Agent Status report displays a list of agent enabled computers, the version of LabTech that is being used and the status of the agent.

This report can be run for all clients or by client, location, computer type, computer or group. Additional filters are available to run the report based on specific criteria.

The purpose of this document is to show you how to use the report specific filters and how to understand the data provided by the report. A sample page of the report is included at the end of this document with each section explained separately.


Note NOTE: If you are running the report and you do not have full access to all clients (clients, computers and locations) the report will only show information for what you have permission to access.

Filter Options

Filters allow you to run reports based on specific criteria. The filters are separated into two sections. On the left, there are the basic filters to limit the report by client, location, computer type, computer or group. On the right, there are report specific filters that will further narrow your report results (e.g., contact, domain, etc.). Refer to the following table for information on how to use these filters.

Filter Description
DNS Filters results based on the DNS server address. Enter the DNS server address and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
FormFactor Filters results based on the type of agent machine (e.g., desktop, laptop, virtual machine, etc.). Enter the form factor and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
WEI Filters results based on the Windows Experience Index of the agent machine (e.g., 3.9, 5.1, etc.). The Windows Experience Index is a score based off of system performance that is calculated in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Enter the Windows Experience Index and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
IPAddress Filters results based on the IP Address of the agent machine. Enter the IP address and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
MAC Address Filters results based on the MAC address of the agent machine. Enter the MAC address and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
SerialNo Filters results based on the serial number retrieved from the BIOS. Enter the serial number and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
Manufacturer Filters results based on the manufacturer of the agent machine. Enter the manufacturer name and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
Model Filters results based on the model of the agent machine. Enter the model name and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
Last Contact Date Filters results based on the last date the agent machine contacted the LabTech server. To filter on last contact date, select the checkbox to the left of the field and enter the 'From' and 'To' dates.
Contact Filters results based on the name of the contact for the agent machine (e.g. John Smith (City, State)). The contact can be set on the Welcome tab of the Computer Management screen. Enter a contact's name and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field. Commas are not recognized in the filters, you must use wildcards instead.
Domain Filters results based on the domain of the agent machine (e.g. WORKGROUP). Enter a domain name and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
OS Filters results based on the operating system of the agent machine (e.g. Windows 7 Enterprise). Enter the operating system name and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
Asset Tag Filters results based on the asset tag of the agent machine, which is set up on the Computer Management screen. Enter the asset tag and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) can also be used in this field.
Date Added to Filters results based on the date that the agent machine was added to LabTech. To filter on date added to LabTech, select the checkbox to the left of the field and enter the 'From' and 'To' dates.
Asset Date Filters results based on the asset date that is set on the Computer Management screen. The asset date defaults to the date that the asset was added to LabTech; however, this date can be manually altered. To filter on the asset date, select the checkbox to the left of the field and enter the 'From' and 'To' dates.
Agent Version Filters results based on the version of LabTech the agent is currently running (e.g. 50.170, 50.169, etc.). Enter the agent version number and select a comparison from the drop-down to return results. The available options are: Like, Equals, In, Not Like, Not Equal and Not In. Wildcards ('?' for a single character or '*' for multiple characters) and the multiple select search can also be used in this field. This information appears on the Help > About screen. Please note, that this also captures Mac/Linux versions, as well. Their version number is lower than the Windows version, which could impact your filtering.

Tip TIP: For a multiple select search, click on the Icn01__16.41.177.AgentStatusReport icon (if available) and then click on the Find button to list the available options.  Select the desired option and use the arrow buttons to slide the option to the right, indicating you want to filter the data based on this selection.  Click OK when done. If a multiple select search icon is not available, you can also create a multiple select search by using the following pattern:  'First Search','Second Search', etc.  Each search must be enclosed in a single quote separated by a comma (no spaces).    


Tip TIP: Wildcards can be used for several of the filters.  Use '?' for a single character wildcard.  Use '*' for multiple wildcards.

Previewing the Agent Status Report

The Agent Status report can be scheduled to run at specific times or they can be run manually. To run the report manually, right-click on the client, location or group from the navigation tree and select View Report > LabTech Reports > Agent Status. However, it is recommended that all reports be scheduled by using the Report Manager. For step-by-step instructions on scheduling reports, refer to the Scheduling/Printing Reports documentation.

To preview the Agent Status report:

  1. From the Control Center, select Tools > Reporting > Report Manager.
  2. Expand LabTech Reports on the navigation tree and then select Agent_Status.

  3. Select the Client, Location, Computer Type, Computer or Group from the drop-downs. For all clients, leave all of these fields at the default setting of 'Not Specified'.
  4. Add any desired additional filters from the right-column to filter your results even further. Refer to the Filter Options section for more information.
  5. Click on the Print Preview button to preview the report. If you wish to print without previewing the report, click on the Print button. To email the report as a PDF attachment, click the Email Report button and complete the email form, as necessary. Otherwise, to schedule the report to run for a later or recurring date and time, click on the Schedule button.

Sample Report

The Agent Status report displays a list of agent enabled computers, the version of LabTech that is being used and the status of the agent. Additionally, outage and resource information is available using the drill-down features of the report.

This report can be grouped and filtered using the controls in the Report Manager.

Note NOTE: Each section of the above report has been extracted (indicated by the letters to the left of the report) to provide a clearer view of the information. These extracted sections are shown below. Some sections may not match the above report. It may have been necessary to extract sections from other reports to give you a thorough look at the information the report provides.

The Report Header (section A) will display the client name, report title, your company logo and the date the report was printed.

The Agent Information section (section B) lists each agent by location with the version of LabTech that is being used, the status of the agent and the date and time the agent last checked in to the LabTech server. If the agent version is not up to date with the current service version, the agent version will display in red. Additionally, you can access the report drill-down information by double-clicking on any of the computers.

The Report Footer (section C) contains the page number, client name, the report title and the date and time the report ran.

The Computer Information section (section D) contains information about the selected agent machine, including the operating system, contact, asset tag, username, domain, date and time the agent last communicated with the LabTech server, uptime and uptime reliability. The agent machine's model, manufacturer, serial number, DNS server address, IP address, MAC address, form factor, Windows Experience Index and hardware usage data are also displayed. This information is accessed when double-clicking on a computer from the main report.

The Report Legend (section F) will appear on the last page of the report. If you used any filters when creating the report, these will display in the Current Parameters section.
